This former Mutya ng Pilipinas candidate discovered her love for singing back in college when she became a member of the prestigious University of the East Chorale then handled by Anna Abeleda of the Philippine Madrigal Singers. From then on, Mafe has been trained by renowned choir conductors particularly when she joined the Caloocan City-based Choir, the Nocturne Chorus.

In 2002, Mafe Joined the Rhythm and Voices Band (a five-piece vocal harmony group). She has performed in venues such as the Podium, Tap Room of the Manila Hotel, Manila Pavilion, Grand Boulevard Hotel and Casino, Westin Philippine Plaza and the Makati Shangri-la. She has also performed with the Alegria Band at the Fountain Lounge of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Beijing China in 2004.

Mafe (along with the Nocturne Chorus) has done front act stints with well-known TV personalities and musicians such as Ivy Violan, Arnel Ignacio, Ai-ai delas Alas and Monique Wilson. She has also been featured as a singer several times in both Concert at the Park and Paco Park Presents aired in PTV 4. Recently has also been seen in GMA 7’s Pinoy Pop Superstar together with the Nocturne Chorus and Regine Velasquez in 2005.
